Why are new 1c_catalog* directories created when exchanging with 1C?

Subject.
Each time a new directory is created, as a result in /upload such a picture is
1c_catalog
1c_catalog0
1c_catalog1
1c_catalog2
...

Moreover, not even for each exchange, but for each file. Those. each directory contains only one xml'ka (import/offers/prices) and .htaccess.

Has anyone come across?

In dbconn.php there should not be a definition of the BX_CATALOG_IMPORT_1C_PRESERVE constant at all. in the cleanUpDirectory() method of the import component, it is not the value that is checked, but the certainty in principle.

What exchange of what?
Well, it means that the reverse is crooked / well written, which creates caches, but does not clean up after itself

Good afternoon.
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I need to solve the same problem.
In the Upload folder there are more than 1000 1c_catalogХХХХ folders left after downloads from 1C.
They also contain *.zip files that are manually deleted by going into each folder after unloading from 1C .....)
In each of these folders remains:
an .htaccess file with the content "Deny from All",
an XML file
and (sometimes ) subfolder import_files, which in turn contains subfolders 01,02,......
Everything would be fine, but the size occupied by the Upload folder is growing very quickly! already 40 GB!
Can you tell me - at least in which direction to dig to solve this problem?
in the file /www/www-root/data/www/ххххх.com/bitrix/php_interface/dbconn.php
debugging disabled - define("BX_CATALOG_IMPORT_1C_PRESERVE", false);
