Who has freelancing experience in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan?

Hello!
I think everyone has read articles about startups or freelancers who started working in Asia more than once. Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia are strongly associated with magnets for adventurous IT people. But for some reason, I have never met China on this list. The exception is perhaps Hong Kong, but even that is used more as an offshore, and not a freelance haven.
In general, maybe someone has experience or information on how you can come to China for a couple of years earning freelance? I'd love to hear opinions and experiences.

As far as I know, in China there are certain difficulties with access to the global Internet. A lot of things are not available from there. You can dig what they write about different countries / cities on the portal https://nomadlist.com/ - digital nomads - traveling freelancers of all stripes :)

China has a problem with visas for a long stay this time, the language barrier, that is, English is not an entrance two (not everyone is ready to learn Chinese), it is quite expensive to live in China.
with the Internet for work, everything is generally in order, how many times I have been there and worked, I have not experienced any particular problems.

Companion 3 years in Harbin freelance. It seems normal, the main thing is to corrupt the local sheriff so that they don’t get a visa and have the funds to pay for the year. I don’t know about real estate, but it’s customary to pay for the Internet there for a year.

I don't understand what freelancing is.
The question, most likely, is how to legally live in a particular country, and freelancing is the tenth thing.
There are many forums on the Internet on the same China. You can go there and ask.

Freelancing and a long legal stay in the country in most cases are not compatible. There are a number of exceptions that only confirm the rule: for example, Thailand. You can go to Thailand on a tourist visa and renew it in Cambodia every few months. (Maybe something has changed, however, with Thailand lately)
There are no miracles, a freelancer is not stable and therefore not a profitable taxpayer and generally a difficult to control foreigner , so that most countries will always be against the long-term residence of such a workforce in their territory.

Lived in Beijing. A room in the center is about $500. Also for food. A visa can be made immediately for six months or a year as for business. The Internet is very bad because of the firewall, you can bypass it through vpn. But the air in Beijing is very terrible. I would recommend some cities near Hong Kong - Guangzhou or Shenzhen.
