I am using git. Where there are projects under it, everything is ok right away, I periodically glance.
Where something is crooked / self-written / unique, I also run git with pens and you're done.
And so, monitoring the logs periodically is a useful thing.

Samhain
OSSEC
Tripwire
Tripwire is one of the first and well-known systems of this kind.
OSSEC is a more or less fancy system with a lot of additional functionality
. I used Samhain, because its functionality was quite easily integrated into the Prelude structure .

Tripvarya has been dead for quite some time. Now only aide
aide.sourceforge.net is relevant
