I would not have set this task in the first place. I'm not very sure that you will immediately have 10,000 people a day.
Further, it is impossible to specifically advise something on VPS, since it is not clear which site, what is written on, etc., etc.
Perhaps it will be possible to use several VPS and spread the load.
Therefore, take any medium and try. You will need power, gradually increase the power of the vps machine.
PS You can use any load tests on an available combat vehicle, for example, a yandex tank.

Well, let's count...
10,000 uniques, let's say it's 5 page views per unique, a total of 50,000 views per day. Because there are peak hours and dead hours, let's conditionally divide by 18 hours, which will include all views. Total 50,000/18 = 2777 per hour.
2777/60/60 = 0.77 requests per second. I don’t even know, can you start with a simple shared?

here, first of all, you need to decide on administration, since this is a full-fledged operating system and you need to monitor it, not to mention the fact that you need to configure the appropriate software for hosting the site. If you do not have experience in this, then it is better to use VPS right away with a pre-installed hosting panel. After transferring sites, ask hosting support to optimize software settings for maximum performance.
If you decide to set up the server yourself, then the instruction will be useful to you Set up a server for hosting sites: nginx + apac ... or this Nginx + php5-fpm + MySQL + phpmyadmin on Debian
