I recommend 14. 12.04 is supported until 2017, 14.xx until 2019. Especially on 12/13 there are problems with Wi-Fi (do not connect to a point with 802.11n support).

what are you going to do on it?
I have the latest ubuntu on my laptop, and nothing like that, it works, or rather not ubuntu, but Linux Mint based on the latest ubuntu. I just don't like Unity.
If you are going to program in PHP version 5.3 and higher, then the latest is ubuntu, since the repositories for 12 do not have fresh versions of php, although you can probably get around this problem with some crutches

LTS is both. So take 14.04.

Thank you all, I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS like the flight is normal, it is 3 times faster than Windows.
