Which USB wifi adapter should I choose to work without problems on Ubuntu 16.04?

I tried the following, but
ASUS USB-N13 has problems with all of them - the network disappears in about a couple of minutes after connecting. It connects for a long time and is not stable.
Official drivers are compiled only for kernel 2.6 (and for two years 2016!), i.e. actually do not compile.
TOTOLINK N300UM - absolutely the same, the network falls off after a couple of minutes. Official drivers do not compile.
TL-WN723N - official firewood from the manufacturer's website is also not compiled. Works a little better than the previous ones, because. take holds better. But there are problems with connecting to the network and periodically hangs the computer tightly.
I also tried to take firewood for realtek chipsets from here https://github.com/lwfinger/.Compiled, put - the effect is zero.
Moreover, the first two adapters clearly declare that they support Linux, asus does not even write it in the box. But who needs the 2.6 kernel in 2016 is not very clear.
UPDATE: Tried this https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixes. At first I forgot to copy the blacklist, but when I copied it, it doesn’t even see the list of networks. Looks like something didn't load.

TP-Link TL-MR3020 with LEDE (OpenWrt) in client mode. This, of course, is not quite a usb wi-fi adapter, but it works without problems. When connected to usb, an additional power supply is not required, consumption is within 200mA. I've been using this option for over two years to network multiple Raspberry Pis 24x7.
If 5GHz, MIMO, or 802.11ac support is required, either Intel (M.2 or Mini PCIe) or externally powered access point.
PS Official drivers are what is in the kernel, ath9k, for example, or iwlwifi. Everything else is slag. Before buying any equipment you need to google.
upd 2017: TP-Link TL-WR902AC is on sale - an updated TL-MR3020 with 5GHz and 802.11ac support. Works great under LEDE 17.01.2 (https://lede-project.org/ ), power consumption is low. There is a step-by-step guide to setting up client mode - https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/recipes/relayclient , at the bottom of the page ("Doing this via the Web GUI instead").

Firewood? openwrt? Seriously?
TP-LINK TL-WN722N under Ubuntu - which is 14.04, which is 16.04 - decided itself without any questions and just works.
The only cant - after waking up the machine from sleep mode, the adapter may not wake up. Whether there is a similar problem on Windows - did not check.

There may be problems with power saving - I had this on rtl8192be. You can try to disable these features. First we do modinfo rtl8192cu and look at the power saving options. Then in one of the files in /etc/modprobe.d we add options rtl8192cu <option1>=0 <option2>=0 ... etc. and reboot. May I help.
