Which university provides a base for a web designer?

And which department? The city is not important.
It is clear that our universities do not graduate good designers, but where they can develop their skills to the maximum so that after or during their studies they can make a leap to a good designer.
Who studies where as a designer, what are your impressions, do you think you can get into Lebedev's studio?

Let me express my opinion, which may not be to your liking, but I believe in it and consider it right.
A good web designer is a programmer who understands well the intricacies of building web interfaces, knows JavaScript, CSS, HTML. In addition, he is proficient in server-side languages such as PHP, Perl, Python, Java, Scala. Also, a web designer must know the basics of databases, so that if not edit, then at least understand the structure.
Long gone are the days when you needed sites on pure HTML, and even implementing a site without a database, using frameworks like jQuery will not be superfluous, because. make the site livelier and more beautiful.
In other words, you need any university that normally trains an application programmer (preferably where they teach similar languages in C and not in Pascal). Well, you yourself will have to learn the correct use of CSS, JavaScript pitfalls and basic HTML layout patterns. This is at least.

Since we are talking about the topic, I will tell you that design is absolutely everything. A designer can and should think in layout, but very superficially, but a designer must think more in typography, in languages (conversational) and have his own point of view on absolutely any occasion. And of course you need to read and practice a lot.
