Which social network is best suited for creating an IT-related community?
Hey!
We are very puzzled by the choice of which social network to put on - facebook, vk.com, google plus.
What social network do most IT people prefer?
I didn’t find any research on this topic, maybe someone already puzzled with this issue somewhere, I will be overly grateful for the link or for any other advice on the issue.

habrahabr.ru:)
vk.com (users of the post-Soviet space).
facebook (international community).
google plus (it is not yet clear what can be attributed to).
Closed groups work well on FB - everyone receives notifications when posts are created there. Vkontakte users are accustomed primarily to entertainment content, this does not mean that analytics cannot be there (there are many examples of intelligent communities).
If you are not planning a global community, but want to make a completely local "IT people of Magadan", then you can generally make a closed site, on wordpress, where entries can be made by all users, but registration is only by invite, for example.
Well, if you don’t want to bother, then make a group on Facebook. Almost all IT specialists are registered there.
Odnoklassniki - not at once.
Make at once in all, where the community will develop most actively, that social network and leave it.
The IT specialist is also a person: o) The choice of social. network does not depend on the concentration of geeks, but on the presence of friends and interesting people, companies and communities.
So, alas, I don’t think there is an absolute majority in any network.
And what kind of IT people do you expect to collect? Top social engineers still don't hang around. At most, they support the questionnaire on Linkedin, and they communicate on Twitter.
I didn’t find any values for myself either in VK or in FB - I left accounts as a replacement for convulsing icq (not everyone can be dragged into jabber to chat). The pluses started out well, but now all the normal bands have died out there.
If this is a standard community for posting pictures and short news - then in any social network, even on Twitter. Just not sure what the topic is.
You can better make a community on the site, with posting to all social networks.
For example, livestreet.ru/
The most famous of the large (really large) highly specialized IT networks is LinkedIn.
Perhaps it is no longer relevant and at the same time I will just leave it - it's here.
