Which platform to build an autonomous aircraft to choose?

As a topic for future postgraduate work, I was offered work on an autonomous aircraft. There will be approximately 2 cameras on board (kinect and a regular camera). The following question is of interest, which platform to choose for working with a quad/optocopter control device, with performance that provides the ability to process images from several cameras, make decisions. Several tasks must be performed in parallel (transfer of received data, autonomous control, space estimation, etc.).
I understand that at this stage, when I have not dealt with this issue before, I have a poor idea of the logic of the whole system in a compartment, but I ask you to protect me from problems in the future associated with a lack of speed and limitations associated with the chosen architecture.
Will it be redundant to use devices like Raspberry, Odroid, HolaDuo with multi-core microprocessors and Linux like OS on board? Do I need to use video accelerators to work with images? Does the arduina, which is not loved by many, have enough power and is there anything similar to solve the tasks of the specified plan?

Here is an excellent forum.rcdesign.ru forum on the topic of aircraft, where you can read and prompt.
The only thing I can suggest is that when choosing a platform, do not forget about the weight of the structure.
The fact that you want to put 2 cameras is already at least 1.5 kg. And weight greatly affects flight time. I will say from what I know that 15-20 minutes of flight is a HUGE success for a quadcopter.
Think of something like an airship where you can get more flight time ...
