Which platform (dev-friendly) to choose for an online store?

Hello.
As a developer, I spent several years at Virtuemart. Since version 2 it has finally become quite extensible, but - alas - the documentation is very poor. Therefore, I write plugins based on the source code, and I understand that I am missing a lot in this regard. In addition, the API is very confusing, many rather trivial things are done through the "exhaust pipe".
I asked myself: is there something better? Initially, the requirements are as follows:
- language: PHP >= 5.2;
- free;
- good documentation for developers with examples;
- extensibility of all key nodes, OOP MVC architecture;
- convenient templating (preferably without any smart-shmarty);
- multilingualism is desirable, or, at least, orientation to Runet;
- preferably a Russian-speaking community.
Interested in both Joomla components and standalone store engines.
Thank you.

Anything like OpenCart.
I stopped using Virtumart after a few stores, such a hell of a code that I want to kill the authors and kill myself after that. In part, this is due to the way the component system itself is implemented in Joomla. Yes, and I don’t really like Joomla after picking inside.
How to hammer a nail, preferably without using a hammer
