Which "modern" Linux distribution is the most up-to-date right now?
There was a need to install a new VPS for sites and other experiments.
I always installed CentOS, but lately there have been a lot of problems.
For example, a painful transition from version 5 to version 6 (didn't make it on one server).
Often some modules/libraries are not built (either the core is wrong, or the dependencies are not found, or generally stupid errors).
Some incomprehensible and not obvious repositories for installation - somewhere there is something missing, somewhere not up-to-date versions, you have to constantly stumble.
Is there a distribution in nature where everything or almost everything is installed "out of the box" of the latest versions and without tambourines? I do not put anything exotic (webdavfs is not exotic yet?). It is desirable that there be a "minimal" installation, without Apache and other monsters by default. Hands are not absolutely straight (not much experience).

Debian will soon change the branch, for today I think Ubuntu 14.04LTS will be optimal for another 8 years of support and almost everything is in turnips out of the box.
Come on, Gentoo is all new fresh out of the box. True, as usual, you have to wait for e-builds
Ahahaha the transition from fifth to sixth was probably 4 years ago.
To say honestly described rake in the same ubunt usually occurs more.
And so the choice is not great now, either centos or ubuntu.
