Which macbook to get for a programmer under $1000?

I need a laptop, I want to try a macbook, but I only have 1000 dollars, what can you tell a complete newbie to macbooks? I'm a front end developer

any mbp or mba you can find. within 5 years.
if mobility is not a criterion, you can safely look at the mini.
although, if it's only "to try", and not a conscious choice, I would get confused with the hackintosh.
