Which Linux distribution to choose for RTSP broadcasting?

Hello colleagues!
There is an old PC Intel P4 2.9 Ghz (prescott), 2gb RAM (4x512mb), Geforce 7300LE, HDD IDE 160 Gb. I plan to use it to receive RTSP streams from remote cameras using VLC pleer, there are 24 cameras in total, the computer is connected to a DVB-T modulator and broadcasts a picture to TVs in the house.
It looks like this: the OS is loaded - VLC is launched with a pre-created playlist in full screen - switching between cameras (navigation through the playlist) occurs using the VLC Remote Control application on the phone. I implemented this system on Windows 7, but the player crashes from time to time.
Question:
1.Which Linux distribution is suitable for this PC configuration?
I'm looking in the direction of Ubuntu, but I can't decide on the version.
