You actually have 2 different questions here.
If you need an easy way... then go for Visual Composer (there is a solution to the second question). The so-called vertical tab.

As for the first question, you can also get out in different ways.
1) there are a lot of add-ons for the visual editor... You can easily find something suitable for you.
2) you can create yourself. I'll tell you in theory. Install Advanced custom Fields Pro (it has an add-on - gallery). Loop the contents of this gallery vertically to the right. And write a small js code for ajax image loading on the right.
3) To be honest, your gallery layout is more like a slider. So you can check the slider. For example, revolution slider
