Which external eSATA raid driver is more correct to use?
Hello!
I use CFI B8283JDGG in my home hypervisor , in all ixbt tests it passed as a fairly fast budget solution. Well, I did the fifth raid on it , first I attached it to VMWare eSXI, and was amazed at the low performance. kernel latency up to three seconds at times, no more than 50 iops. Started to figure out what was wrong. In fact, command queue (NCQ) is not supported in this configuration. Tried different controllers, all to no avail. Tried virtual flash (vmware read cache), but still terrible.
Moved to proxmox, (further details):
SATA controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller (rev 01) (prog-if 01 [AHCI 1.0])
ata5.00: 11720458240 sectors, multi 1: LBA48
ata4.00: 250069680 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32), AA
ata3.00: 312581808 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32), AA
