Which engine to choose for the game?

Good afternoon. I plan to make a 2d platformer, where the main character is a ball. He spins, jumps and runs away from "mobs". When stepping on mobs, an animation appears, the mobs seem to dig in and emerge back from the ground. Tell me, which engine is better to choose?

1. Depending on the language you know. Unity - c#, ue - c++.
2. For the game you wrote, I recommend unity. c# is easier to learn, and the engine itself is quite simple. There are fewer unity features, but more than enough for the game you described.
3. Conclusion: if you don't know c# and you know c++, then use ue. In other cases, unity is better

Defold engine and Lua language - see as an alternative to Unity/UE.
