It happened :) It did happen... Despite the fact that part of the accumulated knowledge automatically turns into useless rubbish...
Calculate Linux Xfce 18 (it costs TDE, but Xfce has all the problems, too). For those who don't know - Calculate is a Russian fork of gents.
After the next "waiting for morons " and the next update , I suddenly lost sound. I listen to music at work only in the evenings, and when I started Clementine in the evening - and didn’t hear anything, I blinked my eyes for a long time and searched for information on how the sound subsystem works in Linux. Until I realized that something was wrong with my fonts...
And then I suddenly realized that I was tired of it. No, not like that - tired! . No, not even like that - TIRED!

Когда постоянно в системе что-то меняется, причем не просто какие-то там левые либы, а меняется gcc, glibc, binutils, интерпретаторы Perl и Python, что приводит к необходимости сутками (я не вру - сутками заниматься пересборкой. Почему пересборкой - от удовольствия binpkg я отказался три года назад при первой замене gcc, когда умудрился какую-то очень важную либу установить так, что с ней не собиралось ничего, потому что она была собрана новым компилером)
Когда пересборка одной либы может уронить программу, которая казалось бы совершенно не имеет отношения к ней
Когда решение вопроса - это либо переустановка всей системы, как в винде, либо ДОЛГОЕ и занудное копание в системе в поисках того самого конфига, в который нужно вписать нечто, чтобы это снова заработало. Причем на решение вопроса может уйти несколько рабочих дней.
Когда перед сборкой любого более-менее сложного пакета нужно обязательно отсмотреть USE-флаги - и не пропустить нужный - он запросто может быть выключен.
Когда единственным способом решения вопроса может оказаться отладка системного скрипта на питоне (было!)

и еще сто тыщ таких же ситуаций, когда ты понимаешь, что в конце дня тебе даже в отчете нечего написать - ну не писать же там "решение вопроса о том, почему у меня после перезагрузки совершенно другие шрифты"?

Therefore, I decided to turn to the community - if there are people here who work on distributions without systemd, then on which ones and why? And what would the gents/calculate advise instead? Should I switch to Artix (a fork of arch without systemd) or Devuan (without it, a fork of debian)?

- systemd is bad or good. He is neither bad nor good. It's just software that I don't want to use.
- asilil or niasilil gento. I have enough skill and patience to master. But I can't afford to spend as much work time as I need to solve problems that are insignificant in effect.

If you need updates in the system, but not in the working toolkit, it is logical to isolate one from the other. Virtualization or containers. And not to look for what the system or someone else is to blame for (I'm afraid this "someone" can be found in any system).
