Which direction to choose for server development?

Hello toaster. I want to get advice.
I am a web developer. With 2.5 years of work experience. 1 year of creating landing pages, making simple functionality for them.
One and a half years of experience with cms Bitrix: created online stores and corporate websites; I have experience in developing components, gadgets, wizards, modules. Has a higher IT education. At the university, I often made my own projects (bicycles) in php / mysql. My working stack: html/css/php/js/jquery/Mysql/git.
Additionally: I know RoR a little; have experience with nginx; know unix; qunitjs.
I got bored doing layout and making online stores on the conveyor. I gravitate toward the backend, I love algorithmic tasks and tasks on the server (for example, write an API for integration with another system). I like to hang out in codewars or codeeval doing js/ruby algorithm assignments. At the current work, more emphasis is placed on the integration of design on cms, the transfer of information from the old database to the new structure, there are few server tasks.
I want to leave Bitrix and retrain for server development (backend). I look towards RoR and node.js.
I ask for advice from experienced developers:
In which of these areas is there more demand for developers?
And what are the most common tasks?
Thanks in advance.

Demand is no longer "in the direction".
And for experienced and responsible.
Schoolchildren for a bowl of risk on primitive tasks jumps in large flocks.
And entrust something serious - almost no one.
In any IT area.
Well, and most of the irresponsible, even those that lead large projects.
Responsibility among customers is highly valued.
Sphere - any.
Do what you like - after all, you will have to learn this for years.
It shouldn't be boring.

No one will make a choice except you, so I advise you to use the resource search, think and make your own decision. These topics have been covered countless times.
