Which deployment method to choose for the web server?

There is a desire to understand how a website (Flask) is made from front-end to web hosting, so that there is some experience before real work. As a hosting, the choice fell on EC2, and CodePipeline for CI (we only have two developers, but we also want to tinker with such a tool). But now the question is: is it better to just use git pull master branches, or are there more serious and correct tools for this?
