Which branch to clone?

Good afternoon, there are several branches, I need to create my own, make a couple of edits, and commit.
where exactly do you need to clone?
master or latest commit?

clone master
Usually master is a branch with stable, tested code, accepted for production. Other developers work on their branches, and you don't have to worry about the most recent commit anywhere other than master - because any code will either end up in master or be discarded.
