Which adapter to buy to connect a USB-C / USB monitor via DVI or VGA?

What will be the picture, and does it make sense to bother?

- Thunderbolt 3 -> HDMI (DVI, VGA) adapter.
- via USB Type-C connector with Thunderbolt 3 support (next to it is a lightning bolt)
- the picture is like with a normal hdmi connection
