Which 2HDD hard drive container to choose?
Good afternoon hackers!
Given:
There is a large data array (~500GB).
The data is valuable.
Data needs to be moved from place to place.
What I want:
2 HDDs for mirrored RAID
If hardware RAID then with the ability to monitor the array status in Debian
If software RAID then through mdadm in Debian
Required USB 2.0
Preferably eSata or USB 3.0
Preferably SMART support
Preferably a shockproof case.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance.

Smart : commands are as follows (taken from GSmartControl, "-d usbjmicron,0/1" added manually):
smartctl -H -i -c -A -l error -l selftest -l selective pd1 -d usbjmicron,0
smartctl -H -i -c -A -l error -l selftest -l selective pd1 -d usbjmicron,1
But it's a hell of a thing to drag such a crap back and forth ... It's
easier to buy a regular USB screw and back up periodically. Or keep it in the cloud
