Where to store the home archive?

With the increase in the quality of films and other information, I began to notice more and more that the volume of a computer disk is not enough to store all this goodness. I began to think about storing this archive on external memory, in order to put them on a shelf, and if necessary, I took it out and turned it on.
The question arose of choosing the type of this memory. The main issue was the price, since the issue of reliability is not so acute here, even if some piece of information is damaged, it can be retrieved again. Access speed is also not very important, since access to files will be rare.
The choice first fell on DVD or BD. But even for DVD-R discs, the cost of 1 GB of information is 2-2.5 rubles, and their small volume does not allow dense recording of information. Or it needs to be split into several disks, which is also not very good.
Next, the choice fell on external hard drives. Here you can buy a 4 TB disk for 5500-6000 rubles, which turns out to be about 1.5 rubles per 1 GB, and files can be written sequentially without leaving empty spaces.
Also found mentions of tape drives. But the search returned no results for devices for home use. And their prices are much higher than those of conventional external drives.
So the question arises whether external hard drives are the most profitable for storing information or are there more profitable devices?

Personally, I prefer external HDDs.
But you can host a NAS.

I've been storing everything on this device for two years already: qnap
Very convenient. And since in fact it is a computer, you can safely use it for various purposes.
I have various network services, a torrent downloader, a web server, a VPN on it.

market.yandex.ru/search.xml?hid=6374360&glfilter=6... you need one of these crap.
Buy an HDD for it. Keep the HDDs themselves in their native boxes - https://aukroreg.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/400x300/2...
