Where to start updating your PC?
The plans are to upgrade the computer to play modern games (stable 50-60 FPS).
Tell me good builds and where to start?
1) CPU type: intel core i5 4440 cpu 3.10 ghz
2) Motherboard: msi b85-g43 (ms-7816) 1.0
3) Video adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
4) RAM: DDR3 - 8gb
5) Power supply: 550 WATT

The correct algorithm is as follows:
1. Find out what specific games will be needed. And what are their system requirements (and, accordingly, at what quality you need to play - someone has enough at low settings, and give someone ultra on a 4k monitor).
2. We look at which processor from those proposed in paragraph 1 will cover all these games, and which motherboards it will fit.
3. We look at what memory this motherboard supports, if it is also DDR3, then it’s possible, we’ll just add the memory to the existing one, and if it’s already DDR4, then we’ll have to buy a new one.
4. We look at which video card will cover all these games at the required quality - well, we figure out which PSU is suitable - or available (is there enough current through the 12v1 line for the processor and 12v2 for the video card, or if there is one line, then the total current) and is there such connectors for the video card and for the processor (4 or 8 pins for the processor, 6, 6 + 1, 6 + 2, 6 + 6, etc. for the video card).
5. We are trying to figure out whether all this will fit into the existing case (and, yes, when choosing a processor, it would be nice to take into account that an appropriate cooler will be needed), and whether it needs to be changed.
6. We consider how much it all costs, and whether there is so much money. And is there a store where you can buy it all at once, or will you have to run around to buy everything in different ways. If there is less money, we go to step 1 and try to cross out some games, or choose lower requirements for them (instead of the recommended minimum or slightly lower than the recommended ones), and calculate again. And so on until the result is achieved.
...
While we are counting everything and assembling the configuration, it turns out that there are no pieces of iron, but you can take something similar, and you need to recalculate everything and double-check everything.
PS When assembling, you also need to re-read the websites of the manufacturers of the motherboard, RAM, processor, and sometimes video cards in order to exclude any incompatibilities. Well, do not forget about the forums - not always everything can be found on the manufacturers' websites, but it may turn out that someone has already collected something similar, and you can read what and how it happened.
Or - just buy a ready-made assembly. There are already many different ones in stores, for every taste and budget.
1. Start by buying a normal 1660 super graphics card and a good bulky SSD. This will already be enough to play all modern games at 50-60 fps full hd at high settings.
2. If there is not enough processor in the future, we change the mother, processor and memory. Ryzen 3600, any mother you like on the b450 / b550 chipset and 16 GB of RAM at 3200 MHz - this is enough for a long time and with a margin.
I started by replacing the processor. I said goodbye to the Intel i3/5/7 series and migrated to Xeons. As practice has shown, these server stones pull at an equal cost much more fiercely than desktop versions.
For modern games, you need to buy a new computer. This upgrade is not necessary. In other words, it needs to change everything.
This is a good office setting. And even then, some tasks can slow down if there is no ssd in it. Might be able to sell it.
There seems to be nothing to upgrade here, at best, it will be possible to save the old case with a power supply.
The most reasonable thing is to sell what is available on Avito and buy a new one.
The plan is this.
1. We find out the average requirements of the desired games.
2. Determine the cost of the required PC
3. Determine the cost of the system unit that is available
4. Determine the missing amount in the formula:
"Required amount" = "Amount of the required system unit" - "the amount of the existing system unit" / 2
5. Earn the required amount (methods of earning in this context are not considered)
6. We sell the existing system unit
7. We buy the necessary system unit
REMEMBER! MODERNIZATION OF THE SYSTEM UNIT IS A MYTH FOR DUMPIES!!!!
