Knowledge of computer science is almost zero.

I guess this is where part of the problem lies. That's why
My advice is to take a course on Coursera CS101 to get the basics right. Then read books on specific technologies.
Which for example? Not all are written in such a way as to absorb knowledge with zero preparation.
I don't think this is a good option.
To get started with programming, I recommend learning Python. Having some knowledge, you can, after a while, proceed to other languages and areas.
ps Even if you plan to study system programming, Python will not be superfluous, as well as knowledge of other languages.

I recently read a biography of Carmack.
Even at school, a person already programmed better than most adults.
Maybe it's not that the textbooks are heavy, but that you are not interested in computers and want the knowledge to just suddenly appear in your head?
A good programmer is brought up from childhood.

I advise you to take up design and layout, since you understand html. Oddly enough - also a very useful activity.

Try the free JS course on GeekBrains. Maybe knowledge of html will come in handy. In general, I will recommend you the book with which I started: S.N. Lukin "Visual Basic Tutorial for Beginners". Of course, now it is not on sale, but you can look for a book in pdf format.
