Where to read the basis about Frameworks?

We need a basic concept. On the wiki, of course, I read it, but apart from general words about some kind of "framework" I did not understand anything.
Those. what is it anyway? Here is for complete beginners who know the basics of the language. Everywhere it is written about specific frameworks, but I did not find what it is exactly in general, the basic plan, how it works.

An application can be made in two ways: glue a piece of crap and sticks with new functionality onto what is already there, or come up with some structure according to which new functionality is added.
This structure is the framework. They either write it themselves (usually due to an inadequately overestimated assessment of their own skills), or take it ready-made.
