Where to look for a problem when, when installing Kali Linux on VB, the virtual machine hangs on a black screen?

Friends, please tell me where to dig a solution to the problem.
On 3 machines on a 32-bit platform of old pentiums with 2Gb of RAM each, with windows 8.1 on board, it is not possible to install Kali Linux in a Virtual Box virtual machine.
Before that, there were no problems with installing this distribution kit, I checked the hash with the hash on the developers' website, the image is not broken.
When you start the virtual machine with the image mounted in the drive, a menu appears with a choice of installation method, when you select any of the installation methods, the whole thing hangs on a black screen and nothing else happens (waited for a long time). For the needs of Kali, I allocated 20Gb of the disk, and 758 RAM each (at the minimum, the system asks for 256), the PAE / NX jackdaw is worth it.

I had similar crap when I installed Calculate Linux 17 on a virtual machine in vmware, there were plenty of resources. Adding nomodeset to the installer kernel boot options solved the problem. As I understand it, KMS decided to switch the video to a mode that was not supported by vmware-vsky "like video" - and that's it, a stupor.
