Where to go with TK for MVP development (analogues of myheritage.com, geni.com, familyspace.ru)?
Project idea : to keep the family tree based on the family tree (analogues of myheritage.com, geni.com, familyspace.ru).
I came up with really high-quality, unique solutions that can not only attract, but also increase the number of users.
Initial data :
- adequate, well-developed TOR (several months of work)
- I am working on the project alone
- professional experience is not related to the development of Internet projects (in programming - 0)
- there is no money for development
Options for developing an MVP:
1. look for a technical co - the founder who is passionate about the idea
2. hire a universal programmer (according to available finances - a maximum of a student)
3. look for seed investments, for development by a third-party studio
4. incubators, accelerators
5. sell a technical solution to a market leader
What can you advise, which, in your experience, is the most suitable option?
Special thanks for the contacts of all possible interested in the project!
If anyone is interested in the details of the project, see below.
The main features of the site :
- save a family tree based on a family tree (family ties, old photographs, important dates and events, etc.)
- invite relatives to expand the tree, find distant relatives (joining with other trees along common branches);
- to pass on the pedigree to future generations.
Keyshortcomings of existing sites :
1. Visually complex family trees are like a “maze”, and the larger the tree, the more difficult it is to figure it out ( note 1 );
2. Conflict of interest between users of the same common tree (who is the first is the main one) ( note 2 );
3. Specific and cumbersome, as a rule, only ardent lovers of genealogy are active.
The goal of the project is the simplest possible site to attract a wide range of users (all algorithms were invented by me personally and are described in detail in the TOR, I have not found such solutions anywhere):
1. Fascinating visualization of the family tree (includes patenting). At the same time, the tree: understandable, visual, within one screen, regardless of its size - it is easy to navigate in it (dynamically reorganizes to the optimal position);
2. Equal and independent powers of users of one common tree (such an algorithm cannot simply be copied to existing sites);
3. A number of high-quality solutions have been developed, thanks to which the site is simple and understandable even “for a child and his grandmother”.
Note 1 - Examples of trees on existing sites:
geni.com/family-tree/index/4481345450320047133
myheritage.com/site-family-tree-46289582/andersdotter?lang=RU
familyspace.ru/tree/15610101 (registration required)
Note 2 – Restrictions on myheritage.com (other sites have similar administration policies):
“…the site creator has the most power…family members and friends invited by the site administrator to join the site have less power…” myheritage.com/help
“ …allowing members to edit the tree as they see fit is left to the discretion of the family site administrator. The site administrator can both allow members of his site to edit the tree, or prohibit it. If you are a member of the site and you do not have rights to edit the tree, please discuss this issue with your site administrator…” myheritage.com/help

no money for development
1. Imho the times when money was given for an idea are long gone.
Money is given for a working MVP with understandable monetization and clear growth dynamics.
Money is given under the examination of the person who developed the tested hypothesis.
Now your methodology is not tested. Shoot or not - no one knows. Its market value at the moment is plus or minus those 2 months that you spent on it.
2. About monetization again - as I understand it a) "competitors" are free b) they cannot boast of huge traffic. In combination with a certain disposability of the service provided, monetization seems extremely vague to me. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not familiar with this market.
3. Of the specific innovations that you write about:
a) a patent for a visual solution in Russian law is unlikely to be done, but in American / European law it will be delayed for at least several years, with corresponding costs
b) the limitations of the system of rights existing on current sites seem to me quite logical and it is not clear what is the advantage here. However, this is my subjective point of view.
4. Of the options you suggested - either look for a co-founder, or make a presentation about traditional values ™ and try to get something in state accelerators.
PS I do not want to judge biased, but combinations of phrases
professional experience is not related to the development of Internet projectsand
adequate, elaborated TORin neighboring sentences causes me great skepticism.
Sergey Protko @Fesor I agree with Sergey! If you really want to make a unique service and you have a vision of a really new methodology that will outshine competitors in this direction, then yes, look for an investor on startup.network and the like, or take a loan and look for freelance performers, or assemble a team yourself and go for implementation, with the development team I can help!
"2. hire a universal programmer (according to available finances - a maximum of a student)"
Your project can be written in three weeks (not from scratch, of course, on a framework). A normal programmer in the region, not a student, will undertake to do this for 30-40 thousand. Is it such an unbearable amount?
Have you decided to do business? Learn to solve problems. Here's the first one - find forty pieces. Taxi in the evenings, unload the wagons, do term papers for stupid students, work in your specialty. You can always dilute the share with investments. Don't rush to do it.
