It seems to me that it is better to start learning C with assembler.
In fact, C is just such an overly sweet asm.
And why do you need to study C, if you know for sure that you will switch to a toad or to pluses?
I advise Steven Part www.ozon.ru/context/detail/id/19421023/ - C language.
Then take some OllyDbg debugger and see how the sish code looks in assembler (Of course, if you are interested). The assembler is actually extremely simple, there are only significant differences in the architecture of the stones (Processors).

Recommend a book on C, Richard Hazfield, Lawrence Kirby - "The Art of C Programming. Fundamental Algorithms and Data Structures." I haven't read it myself so I can't say anything specific about it.
I read Deitel C ++ until I got to OOP, consider the same C (in a rough approximation), and then learn OOP. I really liked the book, everything is simply explained and at the end of the chapters there are tests on definitions and tasks for self-study
