Where is the best place to find an IT co-founder for my startup?
Given:
I launched a business (b2c), which already generates a small income, but for its development and scaling, this business needs to be brought online.
I try to do it with the help of specialized contractors, but it turns out badly, takes a long time and is of poor quality / inefficient.
There are two reasons: 1) there is no interest of contractors to dive into the details of the business and make a quality product for end users; 2) because the business is just starting, I cannot attract large and professional companies for this work.
Accordingly, I came to the conclusion that I need a co-founder from the IT field: a senior developer or fullstack, who would be interested in making a high-quality IT product, developing it and getting a share in the profits for it.
I started searching: acquaintances, headhunters, specialized resources: the result is zero so far. Or people's eyes are on fire, but these are schoolchildren / students without programming experience, and sometimes knowledge. Or are they experienced developers, with the attitude: “I don’t need your business and users, just give me a salary”, which is no different from current contractors.
Question: where and how should I look for such an interested co-founder?

What do we have in the bottom line after so many answers and correspondence in the comments?
1. People of the level that I am looking for do not come here. If they do, they rarely or did not pay attention to my question / not interested.
2. In general, out of 17 users in this topic, only 3 had a constructive dialogue, but, unfortunately, without answering the question. The closest to specific recommendations was sim3x for which special thanks to him.
3. The majority of commentators, instead of answering a question (help), immediately started with non-constructive, leading to nothing criticism, or even worse, with global, very specific, but erroneous conclusions, based on scraps of information and "cockroaches in their heads."
4. I am writing this answer for people who also want to try asking a similar question here.
That's all.
the search location does not matter, the result will be the same as you described.
Apparently you need to think harder than you can interest an intelligent specialist.
Share + salary is quite a typical scheme. Only for a share or only for the salary of an intelligent specialist is also impossible to attract. Many factors must match.

0. Paid conferences on a business topic or on the required technology stack
1. Lower the bar to the middle, but with burning eyes
2. Do not give a stake in a business or company management (unless a person is ready to enter with money and risks)
3. KPI: Create a salary dependency from the required indicators
4. Start learning programming
Depends on the complexity of the product to be obtained.
If this is a project for a year, then a full-fledged partnership in the form of an LLC, exit strategies, profit sharing, and so on is already required. An experienced developer may hear that everything is "raw" for you and immediately fall off like "for money - please, for an idea - well, fuck him."
If the project is small, then the question arises. If it is small, then what for you partnership, is there really no n-amount to make it to order in any office.
Judging by this phrase: "I am founder of startup in AI, blockchain and big data." - you have a task where the ass will be in soap, which means you need an official contract.
You outline the essence of the business proposal here and we will answer in more detail. Or maybe you can find a partner here. You after all for this purpose here raised a subject? ;)
Still, the most important thing remains incomprehensible: if the product is so wonderful, and "brings enough profit (more developer salaries), but will bring a lot more" - and at the same time you have no problems with financing the project - why are you looking for someone to share with? I think many developers are held back by this very question - why do I need him? Especially when a specialist is offered to work at a rate below his cost for the sake of a future share, no matter how it will be legally fixed, there will be fears about at least slyness.
I personally had an example when the closest friends borrowed from me without describing any specific details of the project. When the project started working, I was surprised to learn that I could well participate in it, in any case, there were functions that were quite within my abilities and capabilities.
To my somewhat reproachful question, why didn’t you invite me, the answer was direct and honest enough - well, then it would be necessary to share ... and so - people did it on a salary, so sorry, this is our project, and you are superfluous there. ..
I'm what. Business is such a thing where the usual concepts of friendship end, for example. And partnership in business is either spontaneous or forced.
1) there is no interest of contractors to dive into the details of the business and make a quality product for end users
You need to look everywhere - where you find it there and it's good. There is no universal recipe or one place where such people hang out. Acquaintances, friends, job postings, startup parties, headhunters, IT and business accelerator conferences, forums, telegram/discord chats, specialized sites like cofounder.ru.
A person must believe in you, your idea and its potential - he needs to understand perspectives.
Finding a partner = selling
Make a small presentation:
And give a link to the presentation wherever the audience you need hangs out: habr., vc.ru, headhunter, etc.
To do everything legally correctly, you need lawyers well versed in intellectual property. Exclusive rights to all sites/apps/photos/domains/software/trademarks/databases must belong to the company.
It is possible to draw up agreements between the founders, but in the Russian Federation they will not always work as desired, because they may contradict the law on LLC, Arkady Moreinis also spoke about this. Options in the Russian Federation have appeared relatively recently. Therefore, it is better to arrange everything in the right jurisdiction like the UK or US Delaware - there is more experience in intellectual property and the courts are more competent.
It's just that those who can do it qualitatively are no longer young enough to sit for 6 months without a salary, all families have loans, etc. and it is not known whether all this will shoot and very often desire alone is not enough. I think you don't need a co-founder, but an investor. If the idea, as you think, is worthwhile, then it will be easy to find an investor. There will be money, there will be professional programmers, and not only do you need to qualitatively implement your idea, you also need to let your customers know about this idea.
It even became interesting what kind of project it was. How would you get the details?
Once a week I have a similar ... person with the idea of \u200b\u200ba project "which will bring a lot of profits." I start the conversation with the question "do you have a million for the project"? if a person answers calmly and in the affirmative (such one out of 100), you can continue to communicate with him. and a million is a very modest amount. the launch of a more or less serious project will exceed it several times.
And all "senior-full-stacks" are well aware of the amount of work and the price of this work. And all "senior-full-stacks" are well aware that out of 20 similar projects, one will "shoot", a couple more can hardly pay off, and the rest will be ruined by labor-money. And therefore, when boys come to them with mega-ideas of mega-projects, the secret of which they keep from the public, they send them ...
Therefore, I will give you advice - do not look for a developer co-founder - he sees all your weaknesses. Look for "money".
ps and more:
Or maybe it's not necessary to save money on performers and find good ones?
I would like to know:
1. What kind of startup.
2. How it will be monetized.
3. For what the partner in the future will have to be “responsible”.
I'm not against discussing all this and, maybe, helping to find the right person, or becoming one myself, but I would like more details. If you want to continue the dialogue - write to me by mail.

1. Coworking places, rarely, but there are interesting people that you can interest.
2. Related courses (for example, offline courses on SMM), sometimes you can meet friends with interests and goals there.
3. Business conferences, where all sorts of suckers collect all sorts of types like Business Youth, and among the suckers you can probably find the one you are looking for (but this is not accurate).
4. You can write to someone on thematic forums (by the way, they sometimes organize meetings in cities there)
5. Publication of an interesting article in the media, like vc.ru
Well, or I'm ready for cooperation ahahahahahahaha :D
The topic is relevant and very painful for business representatives, the co-founder says it loudly, try to find a programmer for a salary + 10% of the project.
It’s hard to find a mother, he just won’t go and his eyes don’t burn, look for youngsters on freelance, the main thing is that the person has been there for no more than a year, then the programmer is apparently dragged there and they don’t want to leave there, and I think they make money there Little.
You will find a young person so 20-25 years old and it is normal, as a rule this is the most productive age.
Didn't find what you were looking for?
