Where is probability theory applied in IT now?

It is interesting to know where this section of higher mathematics is applied. And what exactly is used? The statistics are clear, but maybe something else? I would like examples like geolocation tasks, data mining. Maybe there is something here?

It is also widely used in games.

When calculating economic or technical risks. This can be in leasing, credit companies, in design bureaus. It can also be used in near-financial modeling, exchange or other financial speculation, writing trading robots.

Data mining uses machine learning methods, which are, in fact, mathematical statistics and probability theory.
For example, in a classification problem, one of the approaches is to determine the probability that an object belongs to each of the classes according to the description of this object.
There are also many randomized algorithms. For example, in quicksort, you can choose a pivot element randomly. Then the probability that the recursion depth will be of the order of O(n) (and, consequently, the complexity of sorting O(n²)) will be small.

Signal processing: images, radar, sound. Any learning and decision making.
In fact, in any systems where there is a forecast and there is an external observation channel, it is appropriate.
