Where did the Docker mania come from?
Am I mistaken or is the reason for this the massive use of scripting languages that I really want to wrap up so that they do not break others by installing some dependencies? Or is there some other reason?
I just don’t understand the profit in wrapping projects of 50-100 lines of code in the same Docker. However, this is happening on a massive scale.

Docker is much cheaper than separate computers, cheaper than VPS and even cheaper than virtual machines on your VPS.
Deploying docker is much faster than setting up new computers, new VPS and even virtual machines on your VPS.
But only for certain tasks.
The words "cheap" and "fast" are very clear and accessible for businesses that pay salaries to IT specialists. Hence the hype, and docker specialists who cut it where it is necessary and where it is not necessary.
Well, in the end, it's just a tool - if you use it a lot and get used to it, it will just be convenient for you to use it even where it seems like it's not necessary.
