Where can I get the api for the music app?

Beginner js developer, currently making a portfolio. I want to write a web application similar to spotify or itunes. I need a free api that provides tracks (possible with limited or cut features) what APIs can you recommend?

Quite a lot of music (including very good ones) on liberal licenses. But the performers are mostly unknown.
