Where can I get an SMS gateway?

It is interesting to receive a federal number from which it will be possible for your counterparties: -
how to send messages,
- and receive messages messages from them,
using a convenient interface.

For opsos, this is implemented, for example, through the usual http protocol, with the ability to receive and send sms via it. But in order to even feel such a thing, you must first pay for the connection, money, and in my opinion a lot.

Is there such a thing on planet earth, for free? And where to get it? :)

I really do not want to use GSM-modems.

If you definitely need a separate number (dedicated shortcode) to “just feel it”, then there’s nothing you can do - “money in the morning, chairs in the evening”. If you are satisfied with the shared number (shared shortcode) with the keyword (keyword), then on Habré there were a couple of startups on the SMS topic:
AvisoSMS.ru
littlesms.ru

Operators very rarely provide federal numbers for receiving premium and non-premium SMS.
This is due to many reasons (both some technical nuances and nuances related to customer service).
Therefore, you have two options:
- create a service based on a modem / s (or rent such an industrial service (many suppliers have it, for example Devino, google for the phrase Sim hosting)
- rent a short number from all operators, or from aggregators (cheaper there will not even be a number, but a separate prefix, while you will receive messages via http from the aggregator, and you will be able to send both through the aggregator and through external gateways)

Usually, the SMPP protocol is used for this, all providers support it, there are ready-made implementations on the Internet and then it will be easy for you to switch from one to another. I personally worked with coolmessages.net/ , I won’t say anything bad - it works.
By the way, as an option, you can use Skype, they allow you to send sms and they have an API.

The easiest option (but not the most profitable) is to use services like sms.ru, they have ready-made api for integration with your service / program, to which it is enough to send a post request with the necessary parameters, and the service will send out the mailing itself (of course, they will charge for it a certain percentage), a detailed description of the api with PHP code examples here sms.ru/?panel=api&subpanel=method&show=sms/send
directly to the server from which the broadcast will be made (or not to the server, but through a com to ethernet converter like MOXA NPort 5110 Series www.moxa.com/product/nport_5110.htm), and look for a profitable tariff plan for sending large sms, the software part looks like this if it connects directly to the server, then you need a program that hooks the modem on one side, the other hangs on a specific port and listens, then we form AT commands to send sms (nothing complicated to google the manual) and send it to the port, or if through the ethernet converter we send the same thing not to the local port but to the network, a manual with PHP examples here subnets.ru/blog/?p=33

The cheapest thing I see without bringing in a lot of money is littlesms.ru with a promo code, 25 kopecks.
Is there anything cheaper?
smspilot.ru has better prices, but you have to bring in a lot of money in the beginning.

For our project we use SMS gateway Smstauer . We connected a federal number (it seems that something is about 2 thousand rubles) and we receive through them SMS messages from our company employees about coming to the facility, and through the HTTP API of the service we receive SMS messages to the database and automatically generate reports for management at the end of the month ))). Works stably. We also send response SMS and mailings to customers through them, since the office is simple, convenient and all delivery reports are immediately visible. Registered through their promo site to get a bargain price. Here is the link promo.smstower.ru .

To send and receive SMS, you can use the TIUN Android application ( tiun.freegate03.ru ). I left it, put it in the server room and all operators use it. You can integrate with your software, as there is a convenient API.

The simplest and most understandable is smsgateway24
- you can send and receive SMS
- there is a test period and then you can buy it.
Just through http requests can be made. and you can also receive webhooks (for example, about SMS delivery or about incoming SMS)
