If you want to systematically, then you should start with the most common university textbooks on astronomy and astrophysics. Kononovich, Moroz; Zasov, Postnov - it is read quite simply, even if there is no special training, just some of the formulas will have to be skipped. But you need to read carefully, these are still textbooks, not Wikipedia (although no one has canceled it either).
If from the series "brain removal" and on the topic of the structure of the universe, you can read, for example, "The World of Many Worlds" by Vilenkin. There is a lot of literature on this topic, but it is all ambiguous, because in cosmology, apart from Hawking's excellent general theory of the big bang with its inflationary variations, there are few scientifically formulated and at least somehow proven theories.
And if you just want to educate yourself, then the Kvant magazine is posted on the Internet almost in full - all issues for all 40 or 50 years of existence. Read not reread.

I advise you to read "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Green. With it, I would advise everyone to start a journey into the world of the universe, general relativity, relativity, quantum mechanics and much more. It is big, written in simple language and interesting =)
