Where can I find an algorithm for a simple text-based roguelike game?
I know how to program a little in pure Java. For practice, I want to write the simplest implementation of a bagel. It was very difficult for me to think over the game mechanics. What can be read on this topic? Because the mechanics are of interest, no matter what language the articles will be in.

Also, for almost any complex game there is a wiki with a description of the mechanics.
If everything is tight with fantasy - take some open source MUD as a basis, or DnD rules, for example.
Well, in general, the mechanics themselves are not difficult to come up with. It is difficult to make it balanced and interesting.
