Where can I find a project to start testing?

Now it is very difficult to break into testing. All familiar friends say that in order to be looked at, you should at least visit some projects and are even ready to work just for the sake of experience for free.
I agree with them, and I am ready to help some interesting project.
Where is it possible to find a project where you can just gain experience? Or if anyone can help with some advice I would be very grateful.

Choose your favorite OpenSource program and test it! There are sooooo many programs in OpenSource! Examples:
* GnuCash, KeePass, etc;
* FreeBSD, Linux, OpenBSD, etc;
Get it and start checking!

There is a lot of competition for simple jobs.
A manual tester does not need to know anything special at all. Well, bugtracker, well, logs there to remove. It doesn't take long to learn.
For an employer, a person with some experience is more understandable because in a conversation about real projects, one can assess its adequacy. Then, testing is a very boring topic. You may not understand this, and the next day you decide that, well, what the hell.
You can look for projects that are not interesting to you on github, post bugs, but I would suggest spending more time on learning the admin panel / programming languages. This would really make you stand out from the crowd.

go work at the Performance Lab. The salary is beggarly, but it was this company that opened the way for me to what I have after 2 years. They hire you with no experience. just don't go test the games.
