Where can I find a book/article on writing a website engine?

Hello, I am writing my website and I need some kind of engine for it.
I used to write small engines myself, but I'm not sure that I did it right.
Maybe there are books or good articles on the subject.
PS
The site is not big and I'm not going to put it on the stream, so it's my engine that is interesting.
