When does Google Play apps auto-update work?

After updating the version of the application in the Google Play Console, how long should the application itself update on devices (taking into account the set auto-update flag)? If a new version notification has already been received.

Good question =) I tried to check this fact on different phones, and did not reveal any pattern. Lenovo model X phone updated apps after rebooting the phone, another phone of the same model but with different firmware only updated apps while charging. Xiaomi model X phone updates apps at random time, but only over wi-fi.
I dare to suggest that auto-update depends on the phone and its firmware.
