When a customer doesn't pay

All freelancers have had this happen when a client disappears after receiving a project. What do you do when this happens? I haven't heard anything from my client for 3 days since we finished the project with him. There are his contacts: icq, e-mail, phone number, as well as full ftp access to the site on which he worked. How ethical would it be to suspend the site?

@dozent

After several warnings through all available channels of communication, it is quite ethical.

In the end, everything ended well: the client showed up literally at the moment when I launched the ftp client to block the site, paid for the work and charged for the delay =))

If there was no contract, you can also suspend it, having previously phoned and learned about his health and memory, whether he has forgotten about you.
For the future, the client receives the project after payment.
Show him the finished work on your ftp.

Why don't you work with prepaid? Three days is from mid-Friday to Monday morning? Well, the weekend, what to demand?

just in case, a file is sewn into the site, dropping the site when contacted, and issues are resolved amicably and without threats

I believe that if we consider it not from the side of ethics, this blocking of the site can be qualified as a criminal offense completely.
