What would you show (or write) to a potential employer as an example?

I'm a beginner JS developer, and when I talk to HR about hiring, they are expected to ask for some examples of work! I have no commercial experience, which means there is nothing special to brag about, except for my small crafts and a couple of unfinished toys!
And so actually question: What is better to write and show to the potential employer???

I think the problem has no solution in this setting.
The employer needs something that is close to his area of work. Don't write to everyone. Show what is.

Show what you have. Namely, as you write "small crafts and a couple of unfinished toys." For a junior it's fine.
