What works should be added to the portfolio of a web programmer?
I am currently studying web programming, writing some small things for myself and wondering: if I don’t have orders from people, which means I don’t have completed projects, can I add to my portfolio those things that I write in the learning process? For example, I wanted to write a small online store with default things (login, products, categories, cart, etc).
Is it reasonable to add such work to my portfolio and will such work help me when looking for a permanent job?

They will help, just describe it so that it looks like a finished product and not a craft for yourself. Describe the functionality and technologies used (for example, what ajax was used for).
You can upload the code to github, it is important for a web programmer to have his own and good code
Just create a normal github profile and post a new mini app as a hobby every Saturday, say. Your profile will say everything for you after.
