What will be more productive?

Hello, I am making a 3D game and now at the stage of creating a check whether the character is on the ground or not. So what will be more productive: Shooting a beam from the Persian down every frame, or checking if the collider of the Persian is in contact with the collider under the "Ground" tag?

For check it is better to use a separate trigger. (A ray is just iterating over objects in the scene looking for suitable ones)
