What version of Ubuntu/Debian is better to install on a Docker server now?

Who actively uses Docker on servers - what is the best version of Ubuntu / Debian to install now?
Previously actively used Debian 8 Jessie - quite satisfied.
But now the stable version of Debian 9 Stretch seems to be. And almost all hostings provide a preinstallation for Docker based on Ubuntu. Basically on 16.04.
Maybe then Ubuntu 18.04? Previously, I actively used this system on the desktop, it was fine as a system for working on a laptop and a computer.
Who can tell me, maybe I used Debian 9 with Docker and there were some serious problems? Or vice versa, everything is fine and there are no problems.

I would advise against using Debian 8 due to aufs( https://sthbrx.github.io/blog/2015/10/30/docker-ju... ). And there were no problems with Debian 9 and Ubuntu 16.04/18.04.

We have been using it in production for half a year, no special problems have been noticed, but I can say that I just started to learn.
The developers have a wheelbarrow on bubunt 16 with docker, they also didn’t notice any special problems, we don’t use it in production because I just don’t like bubunt.
