What user should I run composer as?

There is a debian server with VestaCP. I installed composer under root according to the instructions on the site. Now I'm doing

php composer.phar -V
Do not run Composer as root/super user! See https://getcomposer.org/root for details
Composer version 1.8.0 2018-12-03 10:31:16

If I try under admin, then

composer.phar -V
bash: composer.phar: command not found

How to be? Thank you.

No need to install composer as root. Set from the user from which php is launched. Php then access these files
