What to read on the basics of information security?

Interested in this field of computer science. It’s not so much even a desire to delve into the practical part (but if someone indicates the direction of movement in the form of textbooks, I’ll be grateful), but it’s interesting to learn about the ideas of information security themselves, the principles of information protection. After all, the machine only encrypts data, hides the code among the code, using its "machine" nature, and how exactly to protect information is determined by a person.
