What to read on algorithms for solving electrical circuits?

There was an interest in studying such a problem. There are a large number of application programs that use a graphical representation of the circuit with setting the parameters of the elements and its subsequent solution (for example, Matlab Simulink).
There are three tasks that are of interest (or how I present them).
1 Representation of a graphic scheme in computer memory.
2 Translation of the graphic scheme into a system of equations.
3 Solution of the system of equations.
Can anyone dealt with similar tasks, can someone tell me in which direction to read? What to watch?
