What to read about Point Cloud?

I learned the topic of my future work. One of the tasks: to determine in which part of PointCloud there were changes in life time, for example, an object from the general picture was turned to the other side, or vice versa, something new was put.
What would you recommend to read in order to get up to speed as quickly and efficiently as possible. What libraries can be useful?
What I can at the moment: get points from the camera, display them, calculate the transformation matrix between two frames.
