What to program as a term paper [microcontrollers]?

You can complete your task on microcontrollers as part of the course work with the consent of the teacher. I myself am very weak in the field of electronics, I also unsuccessfully studied VHDL last semester, I did not understand the language in any way. But with C (for embedded systems, not for microcontrollers), there were no such problems, as a result of which I decided to work on it in this area as well.
Please advise possible topics of projects that you are not ashamed to put on course. Preferably something related to communication systems (especially those described by logic algebra) or image processing systems. But at the same time, it's not overly complicated.
As an example, I'm thinking about some abstract piece of hardware that can process information using Hamming codes (how to formulate such a task correctly?).
