What to look for on the Internet to use Linux on a virtual machine as a web server for development?

Hello
I'm learning php programming and everyone advises to do it under linux. I started reading a book on Ubuntu (I got to the hard console kung fu and gave up), sat down and realized that, well, what the hell (+Adobe I use). I put all the shells through the console. Did not like.
Considering that MS even on Windows 7 merges data to its servers, now I want to try linux on a virtual machine.
Tell me, pliz, what should I look for on the Internet in order to be able to do this (install Linux on a virtual machine and access it as a web server)?
I installed VirtualBox with Windows a long time ago. But I could not even throw a DVD drive and a card reader there. I wanted to make a shared folder for the parent and virtual systems (for quick file exchange) - it didn't work either.
Thank you!

There is hardly any hard console kung fu in books about Ubuntu (I think that it is not stronger than Windows :)). And in general the console to be afraid - not to go to niksa.
There are over 9000 guides on the Internet, anyone will do (like any hypervisor).
I recommend finding a flash drive for 8+ gigabytes and installing% distrname% from under the virtual machine and try to work with it.
If the devices work via USB, then you can forward them directly. Otherwise, the DVD drive clings to the virtual drive by drive letter in Windows, they explain about the card reader here .

Use vagrant as Alexander Taratin recommended. This is exactly what you are looking for.
I also installed it on my Ubuntu. Raised a few boxes with different versions of PHP. I really liked the topic. You will have to read the manuals, but it's worth it.

Maybe it's worth taking it step by step?
1) Learn the basics of php using some xampp.
2) When you more or less understand, then lift Linux in any virtual machine and configure nginx + phpfpm + mysql
3) Learn vagrant and docker (for the future, these utilities have different purposes) We
couldn’t master it, I even xs what to tell you, it would be wish. I remember how back in 2005 I installed debian and tried to run Wow there. I patched the graphic cores and installed custom firewood dropping the x's every other time. I somehow figured it out, although of course not in one day

You don’t need to look for anything, you
download either a virtual machine
or a sh script , you install it https://www.1c-bitrix.ru/download/vmbitrix.php setup 4 minutes The machine is perfectly debugged. If the site is on Bitrix, then mbstring ... = 0 and that's it
